Working on Father and Son

Working on Father and Son

Thomas Manning

I began metal sculpting in 2015 after an introductory welding class at Silvermine Arts Center in New Canaan, CT. Soon after I was introduced to sculptor David Boyajian and began working at his atelier, The Sculpture Barn, in New Fairfield Ct. I work full time as a nurse and prior to that as a Paramedic. My career in medicine began in 1994, and I have dealt with life and death on an almost daily basis. Creating sculpture is not only therapeutic, it gives me a sense that I will leave something beautiful behind long after I'm gone. The scale of my work varies from fitting in the palm of one’s hand to almost eight feet tall, but each expresses something personal.
